Kids and Chiropractic Care

Children need and deserve chiropractic care.  The spine of a child sustains many stresses including the process of being born and being pulled into this world by the head, learning to walk and falling down hundreds of times, falling off of monkey-bars and trampolines and even sitting with a poor posture while watching T.V. or playing video games.

The spine houses the central nervous system which controls every function in the body.  If the spine is not lined up correctly, the nervous system will not function properly and the child’s health will not be as good as it can be.  Because children are growing and developing so quickly, it is vital that their nervous system is functioning at its full potential.  Specific and gentle chiropractic adjustments are given to the child’s spine to correct the nerve interference caused by misalignment.  Pediatric adjustments are different from adult adjustments and are much lighter force and many times are done with the doctor’s pinky finger.  Dr. Jerviss has special adjusting equipment that is specifically designed to care for a small spine.  If you have any questions or would like more information about how your child may be helped by chiropractic, please contact Dr. Jerviss at (865) 573-6500 and she will be happy to answer your questions.
